No injuries reported in recycling compactor fire

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire in the 2000 block of Northgate Commerce Parkway at 1:17 a.m. Smoke was seen coming from a recycling compactor filled with cardboard attached to a large distribution center. Firefighters contained the fire to the compactor and placed hose lines to prevent it from spreading into the warehouse. After removing the compactor, the fire was brought under control by 1:53 a.m. and the warehouse was ventilated. Employees returned by 4:00 a.m. The fire was ruled accidental, with no injuries reported.
