The City of Suffolk announced they are continuing to celebrate the city’s 50th anniversary with the Suffolk Parks and Recreation Department planting 50 trees throughout the city. The department is currently seeking resident input for tree planting locations.

The city is inviting local homeowners’s associations and civic leagues to apply for native tree planting in their neighborhood areas. Trees must be placed in a public park or common area and not in a private residence. Those interested in applying can visit suffolkparksandrec.com and click on the “50 Trees for 50 Years” icon.

Playing a crucial role in urban ecosystems, trees improve air quality, reduce heat islands, support local wildlife and provide both shade and natural beauty to Suffolk’s parks and streets.
