The City of Suffolk has ended their 30-day Red Light Enforcement Camera warning period for two intersections.

The warning period for Main St. and Constance Rd. as well as Holland Rd. and Business Route 58 have ended. Individuals caught violating the red light rules will incur a $50.00 fine.

When making a left or right turn at a red light safety monitored intersection, drivers should be aware of these procedures:

When a vehicle is completely within the intersection during the time the light turns red, a violation will not be issued.

For right turns, a red light violation occurs when a driver fails to come to a complete stop behind the limit line before making a right turn. Likewise, motorists should only proceed with a right turn after coming to a complete stop and ensuring that it is safe to proceed.

For right turns with a “No Turn On Red” sign, a red light violation occurs when a driver completes a right turn at the intersection before the signal turns green for that direction.

For left turns, red light violations occur if drivers fail to come to a complete stop behind the limit line when the controlling signal becomes red. Likewise, motorists should proceed with a left turn only when the signal turns green and it is safe to proceed.
