Phyllis C. Perry went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2024. Born in Keen Mountain, Virginia June 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Marie Cuthbertson. She is also predeceased by her husband of 55 years, W. Lee Perry.

Phyllis worked at C & P Telephone Co. and retired from First Baptist Church with 27 years of service. She had a passion and love for her family and church. She was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher for many years. She was a member of the WMU and the Friendship Class. Her hobbies included sewing, needlepoint, knitting, and quilting. She loved the many years of relaxing at the Outer Banks and shopping trips to New York and Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Harrell (Lloyd) of Raleigh, NC; brothers, Earl “Buddy” Cuthbertson, Jr. (Corine) of New Hampshire, Steve Cuthbertson (Kay) of Powells Point, NC, and Samuel “Sammy” Cuthbertson of Bastrop, LA; children, Melody Turner (Randy), Dena Walters (Hunter), Jon Perry (Cary), and Daniel Perry (Paula); grandchildren, Jennifer Brown (Armon), Frank Walters, III, Ray Turner III (Sarandon), Carson Perry, Haleigh Perry, and Noah Perry; great grandchildren, Miles Brown, Maxwell Brown, Canaan Turner, and Feilim Turner; as well as many, many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Nans Pointe Rehabilitation and Assisted Living for their love and dedication shown to Phyllis and her family. Many thanks to her Friendship Class for a very memorable and loving 86th birthday.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, July 18, 2024 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thurman Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will take place at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date.
