Downtown Festival Park grand opening and Suffolk’s 50 Fest announced

UPDATE: The City of Suffolk has announced 50 Fest scheduled for Saturday, July 13, has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, August 3, at 5 p.m. due to impending inclement weather.
The City of Suffolk will celebrate the city’s 50th anniversary and the grand opening of Downtown Festival Park with 50 Fest. The festivities are scheduled for Saturday, July 13, at 5 p.m. The park is located at 215 W. Washington St.
50 Fest will feature an array of food trucks and family-friendly activities throughout the night. Attendees can enjoy the tunes of the local 70s cover band “Inside Out” as they set the mood for the evening. Attendees are encouraged to break out their best 70s attire for a chance to win prizes in a costume contest. At 8:30, after the concert, the classic 1978 film ‘Superman’ (PG) will be shown on a 40-foot movie screen.
Guests are advised to bring chairs or blankets for seating. While coolers are not permitted, attendees may bring water. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase to those over 21, with proper identification. Service animals and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Parking will be accessible in public lots throughout downtown.
