The Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery is preparing for its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27.
The ceremony serves as a solemn tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, spanning from the Revolutionary War to the present day.
Volunteers from the Horton Wreath Society, along with other community members, will honor these fallen heroes by placing American flags on each grave within the cemetery grounds.
The ceremony will feature a keynote address delivered by Colonel Michael Winstead, a retired U.S. Army officer.
Additionally, the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery Honor Guard will be in attendance to perform ceremonial duties.
Operated by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS), this cemetery is one of three state veterans cemeteries in the region.
The event is open to the public and will begin at 10 a.m. at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, located at 5310 Milners Road in Suffolk.
