Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded Tuesday evening, May 21, 2024, to a commercial fire in the 300 Block of Factory St., the site of Birdsong Peanuts.

Emergency Communications was contacted at 9:25 p.m. When fire crews arrived on scene at 9:30 p.m., they found a multi-story factory with a fire in the processing area. Crews worked between the second and third floors to find and suppress a fire that involved a conveyor belt and the duct system. Some fire was also found in the second-story roof. The fire was contained to the ductwork and the roof area. No injuries to factory workers or firefighters. The fire was placed under control at 10:09 p.m.
