Suffolk Fire and Rescue says three adults have been displaced after a nearby building collapsed at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday in the 300 block of E. Washington Street.
When crews arrived, they found a three-story building that had collapsed in the interior, along with debris on the front sidewalk and in the rear of the building. SFR says the building was not occupied, and due to the damage, the adjacent apartments were deemed unsafe, displacing the occupants of those apartments.
The City of Suffolk’s building officials are working with the owner of the building to have it demolished. There were no injuries as a result of this incident, and the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced.
