Isle of Wight Academy softball team advances to state title game

The Isle of Wight Academy varsity softball team punched its ticket to the VISAA Division II state championship game in decisive fashion on Thursday afternoon, May 16, in Sutherland.
The No. 2-seeded Lady Chargers defeated No. 3 Fredericksburg Christian School 11-1 in the state semifinals to improve to 16-6 on the season overall.
IWA will play for the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state title at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, at the Dinwiddie Sports Complex in Sutherland. The Lady Chargers will face the winner of the other state semifinal game featuring No. 1 Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and No. 4 Christchurch School.
