Residential fire displaces two Wednesday

SUFFOLK, Virginia — Two adults were displaced Wednesday after their home on Babbtown Road caught fire, according to Suffolk Fire and Rescue. Crews responded to the 200 Block of Babbtown Road at approximately 11 p.m., to find heavy fire and smoke showing through the roof of a single-story residential structure.
According to a media release, two occupants and one dog safely evacuated prior to the firefighter’s arrival. A search found no additional occupants. An evacuation order was given by command at 11:29 p.m. and defensive fire operations ensued. The fire was placed under control at 12:08 a.m. Two adults were displaced by the fire and the American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family. No injuries to occupants or firefighters
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
