The VISAA #3 ranked Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints jumped out to an 8-0 lead at the end of two innings on Tuesday en route to a dominant 11-1 win over the Norfolk Collegiate Oaks. Gavin Angelillo struck out eight and allowed only one run in five innings pitched, earning him the win. The lone blemish for the Saints came after Angelilo walked the first two batters in the top half of the third inning, eventually leading to an Oaks score.
Angelillo got off to a hot start on the mound and took that energy with him into the batter’s box, going 2 for 2 and scoring three runs. Matt Carson and Cam Bergen scored two runs apiece and drove in two and three runs, respectively. As a team, NSA went 10 for 24 at the plate.
The Saints, who improved to 10-9, conclude their regular season on Saturday, May 4, when they host Oscar Smith. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
