Suffolk, Virginia — Suffolk Parks and Recreation is commemorating the 50-year anniversary of the merger between the City of Suffolk and the County of Nansemond by planting 50 trees throughout the city. Civic Leagues and Homeowner’s Associations are encouraged to apply to receive one of these trees. Organizations can choose from eight different native species, but the trees must be planted in a common area such as a park or community building. Trees will not be planted at private residences. To apply, interested parties should complete the online form at https://form.jotform.com/jthimmes/suffolk50trees. For more information, they can contact Christy Fisher, Park Planner at (757) 514-1258.
