Suffolk, Virginia —
According to Suffolk Fire and Rescue, an early morning fire in Suffolk left three displaced. In a media release, SFD reported it responded to the 6000 Block of
Bradford Drove for a residential structure fire at 2:33 a.m.
When crews arrived at 2:40 a.m., they encountered an exterior fire on the side of a single-story duplex. The fire was isolated to the outside of the structure and involved a
privacy fence and the electrical meter bases that provided power to the duplex. The fire ran the side of the duplex’s brick, impinging on the soffit. Crews knocked the fire down from
the exterior, preventing the fire from entering the duplex. As a result of the fire damage to the meter bases, one adult and two juveniles were displaced. Dominion Virginia Power responded
and secured power at the meters for the duplex. No injuries to firefighters or occupants are reported.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire. The fire is considered “undetermined,” and Fire Investigator Chris Corbett leads the investigation. Please contact
Investigator Corbett, if you have any information regarding the fire, call 757-514-4583.
