Suffolk Fire and Rescue announced the dates for the 2024 Fire and Life Safety Camp for children ages 6-9. The half-day local camp runs Monday through Friday and introduces children to life as firefighters with Suffolk Fire and Rescue. Campers are presented with a variety of fun, challenging, and educational activities. The mission of the camp is to teach children lessons on fire safety, home escape plans, bicycle safety, water safety, basic first aid, and much more. Campers are taught and supervised by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and teenage volunteers who were, at some point, campers themselves. There is no fee for the camp, and children are provided snacks and lunch each day. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and is held at Fire Station #6, located at 300 Kings Fork Road.
The sessions are as follows:
- Session 1: June 24-28
- Session 2: July 8-12
- Session 3: July 22-26
- Session 4: August 12-16
The registration period is April 1-15, 2024. Parents may register their children at secure.rec1.com/VA/suffolk-va/catalog.
