Service members contribute 425 hours to parks & Recreation

In a demonstration of their commitment to community service, over 170 military personnel from the Reactor Division of the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) dedicated their time to various projects across six Suffolk Parks and Recreation locations. With a total of over 425 hours of service, volunteers assisted Parks & Recreation with:
•Washing and detailing six vehicles, including a tour bus.
•Filling 2,000 eggs for the Eggstravaganza event.
•Removing old fence posts and horseshoe pits.
•Cleaning and organizing athletic storage space at Peanut Park.
•Refurbishing and assembling several picnic tables at Lone Star Lakes Park.
•Cleaning over 200 yards of fencing at Sleepy Hole Park.
•Collecting over 35 bags of litter.
Mark Furlo, Director of Suffolk Parks and Recreation, expressed appreciation for the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the military personnel and members of the USS George H.W. Bush to enhance the parks.
