It was the Rylea Nelms show Friday as the Nansemond-Suffolk Lady Saints knocked off Trinity Episcopal 10-0. Although the senior center fielder only managed two hits on four plate appearances, both hits were home runs, resulting in six RBI in the win.
Nelms’ first homer was a three-run shot to left field in the top of the sixth inning, putting NSA up 5-0. One inning later, she hit the repeat button, going yard again to left field for another three-run blast.
Senior ace Marin McGowan had another stellar outing, striking out 11 batters, moving her strikeout total to 37 on just four starts.
The Lady Saints improve to 4-0-1 on the season and travel to face Catholic High School on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m.
