SFD responds to brush fire

SUFFOLK, VA –Suffolk Fire & Rescue are on the scene of a brush fire located in the 2200 block of Hosier Road. Suffolk Emergency Communications dispatched the incident at 3:39 p.m. Engine 3 arrived at 3:44 p.m. to find heavy smoke showing from a large area off Hosier Rd.
The brush fire is affecting approximately five acres of brush and trees in a private lot that houses a storage shed, two tractor-trailers and dozens of propane tanks, three of which exploded. No injuries were reported. Four nearby residential structures were threatened but not damaged, before the fire was contained and marked under control at 5:40 p.m.
This portion of Hosier Road is closed to traffic at this time.
