SFD battles early morning fire on Webb Street

SUFFOLK, Virginia — Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the 300 Block of Webb Street for a residential structure fire. The incident was dispatched by Suffolk Emergency Communications Dispatch Center at 2:05 a.m.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found heavy fire and smoke showing from the single-story detached residential structure. The house adjacent to the burning home was also ablaze. A vigorous attack on the fire by the crews prevented further damage to the neighboring residence. Searches of the premises were conducted, and the fire was brought under control at 03:01 a.m. An occupant was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no injuries reported among firefighters, other citizens, or occupants. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the displaced occupant.
The cause and origin of the fire are being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
