The Admirals gained two points in the North division, defeating the Adirondack Thunder 3-1 Wednesday night at the Scope.
Norfolk goalie Oskari Salminen turned in another stellar performance in net for the Admirals, locking in 36 saves on 37 shots.
The Thunder opened the scoring at the 8:13 mark of the first period with a goal by Mike Gillespie, with Tristan Ashbrook getting the assist.
Admirals Denis Smirnov took little time to put one past Thunder goalie Vinnie Purpura, with Stepan Timofeyev and Carson Musser assisting on the score.
Although the Thunder controlled the puck inside the Admirals defensive end of the ice for most of the first and second period, Norfolk was able to take a 2-1 advantage after a Connor Fedorek goal and the assist by Josh McDougall and Brandon Osmundson.
Norfolk managed to hold the Thunder to just six shots on goal in the final period of play.
The game was essentially put out of reach on an incredible goal by Stepan Timofeyev, who sneaked a shot around Purpura’s right side at 9:05.
The Admirals return to the Scope on Friday and Saturday to take on the Maine Mariners. The Admirals will celebrate the city of Chesapeake in another installment of the City Series. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. on Friday and 6:05 p.m. on Saturday.
