“Over the weekend, the school and school division was made aware of a social media post with an alleged threat to Nansemond River High School,” the letter read. “Once the report was received, the Suffolk Police Department was immediately notified. The school district is working closely with the Suffolk Police and this will be considered an ongoing investigation. We understand that incidents like these can be distressing for parents and students alike. Please be assured that we are implementing additional security measures, including increased law enforcement presence on campus, heightened surveillance, and increased staff vigilance. We will also continue to conduct safety checks.”
