One dead in Pine Street shooting, victim identified

UPDATED: Jan. 3, 2024 – The Suffolk Police have identified the deceased as Sherman Lee Perry, age 63, of Suffolk.
Suffolk Police are investigating a shooting death that occurred Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m. In a press release, the Suffolk 911 Center received a call for a person suffering from a gunshot wound inside a residence in the 100 block of Pine Street.
When officers arrived, an adult male, age 63, was located suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There is no suspect information at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no further information available for release.
