Barbara T. Mizelle, 73, of Suffolk passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2023, surrounded by her family.

To know Barbara was to know a kind, compassionate, loving person who showered her family and friends with affection and kindness. She was so very proud of her children and grandchildren and supported all of them wholeheartedly and unconditionally. She spent much of her lifetime touching lives in the operating room where she worked for 45 years. She lived her whole life with a generous and grateful spirit.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Tobi Byrd (husband Jimmy); her son, Taylor Cale (TC) Mizelle (wife Jessica); her grandchildren, who she loved fiercely and passionately, Reese Byrd and Raylan Mizelle; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Tayloe and Carol Tayloe; nephews, Mark Tayloe and Tim Tayloe; nieces, Katie Tayloe and Emily Tayloe; special friend Brenda Lewis and numerous other friends and loved ones. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Mizelle; parents, Julian Brown Tayloe and Ruby Tayloe; brothers, Richard Lee Tayloe and Frank Tayloe. 

Per her insistent and repeated requests, there will be no public memorial service. Her hope was that when people think of her, they smile. Her family hopes that she will be remembered fondly for her kindhearted and benevolent way.
