Suffolk Fire and Rescue responds to Tuesday residential fire

Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 800 block of Kilby Avenue on Tuesday, according to a news release from the city.
“Emergency Communications was contacted at 12:03 p.m. and the first unit arrived on scene at 12:06 p.m.,” the release said. “Rescue 1 arrived on scene first to find moderate smoke showing from the rear of a single-family residential structure. Crews quickly attacked the fire and held the fire to the room of origin. The residence sustained smoke damage throughout. The fire was placed under control at 12:22 p.m. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The American Red Cross is assisting two displaced occupants.”
The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.
