Caregivers and residents came out to fight back against Alzheimer’s. To help raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association of Tidewater, members of Home Instead Senior Care held their third annual Alzheimer’s Fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 22, at its main office located at 2000 Hillpoint Blvd.
Home Instead Client Care Coordinator Deneen Evans talked about the event overall.
“We have gone out to different businesses in Suffolk to get donations for our wonderful raffle prizes we have out here today. Also, our staff and caregivers have donated items, and we are raffling those off, and all the moneys, the proceeds, are going to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s 2023,” Evans said.
Home Instead Caretaker Mary Holland, who has served with the health care service for nearly 10 years, expressed how much she loves helping clients and enjoyed participating in the fundraiser.
“I love the people that I take care of. It’s so overwhelming to even talk about it really …” Holland said. “Now we are just being a part of this auction to support the Alzheimer’s Walk to see what we can do to help raise the funds.”
Evans expressed hopes that these efforts help to end Alzheimer’s once and for all.
“By raising money in funds and awareness, then maybe we’ll have a cure for this horrible disease,” Evans said. “That’s the goal.”
