UPDATE (Sept. 20, 2023) – Suffolk Police Department has identified the victim in the fatal single vehicle crash on Sept. 19, 2023 as Michael Joseph Byrum, age 63, of Suffolk.

The Suffolk Police are currently on the scene of a single-vehicle crash involving the fatality of the driver and only occupant.  According to a news release from the Suffolk Police Department, the crash occurred on Mineral Spring Road near the intersection of Great Fork Road.  This section of roadway will be closed for an extended period of time while the investigation occurs.

The victim’s identity has not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
