UPDATED (Sept. 20, 2023) – Suffolk Police advise that, following notification of next of kin, the victims in the fatal two-vehicle crash on Sept. 17, 2023, have been identified as Chavez Holden, age 32, of Bloxom and Demarkus Thornton, age 31,  of Suffolk

A two-vehicle crash along Route 58 – eastbound– between the scales and Chesapeake city limits claimed the lives of two individuals Sunday, according to a news release from the Suffolk Police Department.

At the time of the news release, officials said it appeared one of the involved vehicles was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of travel prior to the collision.  The section of Route 58 was closed during the investigation and reopened around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The identities of the victims have not been released.
