Peanut City Cloggers earn place in national competition

The Peanut City Cloggers won 16 awards, including three grand champion and seven firsts, qualifying them to compete at the October national clogging competition in Tennessee.
According to a news release from publicity chair Sheila Morris, the cloggers earned these honors during the Sound FX competition, held the weekend of Aug. 19 at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
With the awards in the categories that follow, the cloggers will be at the national competition Oct. 20-21.
Awards earned at Sound FX are:
- First place — Elementary Country Hoedown
- First place — Elementary Running Set Hoedown
- First place — Elementary Open Hoedown
- First place and grand champion — Senior Running Set Hoedown
- First place and grand champion — Senior Open Hoedown
- First place — Young Adult Southern Appalachian
- Second place — Senior Set Precision
- Second place — Senior Traditional Line Forms
- Third place — Senior Traditional Line
In addition, the team was honored by being selected for the Ellis Perry Spirit Award.
Jeylah Finch won first place and overall grand champion in the Novice division Freestyle Solos.
Madison Belch won second Place in Freestyle Traditional Solos.
Lillie Short won third place in Flatfoot Solos.
