Man shot in downtown Sunday night

A Sunday night shooting in downtown injured one man, sending him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Suffolk’s 911 center received a hang up call from the Corner Store in the 1300 block of East Washington Street at about 7:22 p.m. Sunday, July 16, according to a department news release

When units arrived, they were advised an adult male subject had been shot and then fled the scene.  At 7:41 p.m., police said they received a call from a local hospital for an adult suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, a 20-year-old male, is currently being treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said in the release.

There is no suspect information available at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing. The department said there is no further information available for release.
