SPD arrests local man within minutes of Walgreens armed robbery Thursday night

Suffolk Police quickly apprehended a man who is charged with the Thursday night armed robbery at the Walgreens located in the 100 block of West Constance Road.
In just eight minutes after the report of the armed robbery, police arrested Aaron Leon Moss, 53, of Suffolk, detaining him on pending charges of armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by felon.
Police said the the Walgreens location was robbed at 7:59 p.m., Thursday, July 13, according to a department news release. Moss is alleged to have entered the store, went behind the counter, approached the store employee, displayed a handgun and demanded money. He then removed the till from the register and fled the store on a bicycle.
An SPD officer was able to observe Moss was fleeing the scene. The officer then chased after him into the wooded area near the store. Additional officers responded to the area and Moss was taken into custody at 8:07 p.m.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time. SPD said there is no further information available for release.
