God has smiled on me. He has set me free. A noble man, devoted husband, exceptional father and faithful servant of God, Louis “Nat” Nathaniel Tucker Sr. transitioned peacefully surrounded by his loved ones at his residence Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
Louis was born on Jan. 18, 1949, in Suffolk to the late Lottie Mae Tucker-Vaughan and Phillip Isaac Brown. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lottie Mae Vaughan and his son, Louis N. Tucker Jr. (Bug).
Louis attended Suffolk Public Schools and went on to start his career at Ford Motor Co. where he later retired after 31 years.
Louis was an active and devoted member of Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Louis leaves behind his wife, Ruby Tucker; two daughters, Mironda Tucker and Gabrielle Cooper; daughter-in-law, Shawn Tucker; four sisters, Marie Vaughan, Carolyn Vaughan, Sandra Bridges (Ernie) and Denise Thomas; one sister-in-law, Sandra Smith; one brother-in-law, Walter Moore Jr. (Judy); three grandsons, Dion Jordan Jr. (Ari), Louis Shaun Tucker and Christian Cooper; one granddaughter, Shaniya Tucker; two goddaughters Mavis Milteer- Penn(Ray) and Z’Niyah Harper; one godson, Eugene Boone IV; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation is from 3 until 7 p.m. Thursday, July 13 at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. A celebration of life service takes place at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 14, at Metropolitan Baptist Church. He is being laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
