Suffolk resident Bennie Darden joins the centenarian club as he celebrated his 100th birthday at the Suffolk Ruby Monday. 

Instead of an extravagant party, Darden had a charming get-together surrounded by the most important people in his life — his family.

Darden’s daughter Sherri Wheeler talked about what it meant to her to see her father reach the 100th year of his life. 

“It’s a blessing,” Wheeler said of her father. “To see how active he is  He cooks, cuts the grass and still drives. He does what he wants to do.”

Darden is not the only one in his family to make this milestone, as his brother reached 110 and his sister reached 102.

How does Darden feel about himself making it to the this three-digit milestone?

“Feels real good,” he said happily. “I am on cloud nine!”
