Three displaced by Tuesday night downtown fire

A Tuesday night fire in downtown left three seeking housing assistance from the American Red Cross.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 100 block of North Capital Street at 11:11 p.m. for a residential structure fire by emergency communications.
Three Fire and Rescue units arrived at 11:15 p.m. to find fire in the rear of a single-story residential structure, according to a department news release. Engine companies performed an interior attack while the ladder company performed searches.
The fire was contained to the rear of the structure. There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants. Three adults were displaced.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
The fire was placed under control at 11:31 p.m.
Nine Fire and Rescue units respond to the call, along with Fire Marshal 7. Suffolk Police provided scene and traffic control.
