Virginia State Police are investigating a plane crash that occurred about 2:51 p.m. Saturday at 591 N. Liberty Spring Road.

The male pilot and owner of the plane, Charles Robert Walker Jr., of Edenton, N.C., suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the VSP Chesapeake Division.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the call and is reporting that the man was pinned in the crash, according to a post on its Facebook page. Fire & Rescue extricated the man, who was transported to a local hospital by Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance.

Sgt. Anaya said that either the FAA or NTSB responded to the scene.

Information on the cause of the crash or where the plane took off was not available.
