The children of Suffolk Christian Academy teamed up with the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office to share their creativity and celebrate the fathers that reside in the city’s nursing homes.
Deputies made their visit to SCA to pick up the student’s crafted cards and made delivery trips to Lake Prince Woods Assisted Living, Concordia Assisted Living, Maryview Nursing Care Center and Autumn Care of Suffolk Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Deputy Major David Miles said it is outstanding the amount of love, consideration, and care the SCA student put into the cards.
“Being able to see the sincerity in each card, specially made by a young student was heart-warming,” Miles said of the students’ work.
Miles reflected on how fulfilling it was to see the faces of the residents who received their cards, noting how happy “they were that someone thought of them.”
Miles believes this project is a good experience for both the students and the nursing home residents.
“I hope that the students know that their hard work made a difference in the lives of the residents, and for the residents to know that there are those in the community that still have them on their minds,” he said.
