Moorman convicted of 2021 murder

A Suffolk man was convicted Thursday, June 8 for a 2021 shooting that left one man dead.

Isaiah Robert Moorman, 24, was convicted by a Suffolk Circuit Court jury on six felony charges in connection with the Dec. 14, 2021 in the shooting of death of Tre’von Antonyo Lewis, 22, of Suffolk.

The jury found him guilty of aggravated murder, first degree murder, robbery causing death, maliciously discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling, using a firearm in the commission of murder and using a firearm in the commission of robbery. He will be sentenced Aug. 28 in Suffolk Circuit Court.

The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Burnetts Way about 7:50 p.m., Dec. 14, 2021. Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Virginia Judiciary System Online shows that a pre-sentencing report is being prepared on Moorman.

Moorman’s attorney James Granfield was contacted Tuesday to ask if he planned to appeal and he said he had no comment.

Attempts to contact Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Edward Ferreira were unsuccessful prior to press deadline.
