Suffolk Fire and Rescue came to the rescue of a boat on Western Branch Reservoir Saturday morning.
A dozen units from the department responded to a boat in distress this Saturday, May 13 with two adults and one child stuck onboard. Officials said in a Facebook post that the boat hit an object in the water and became disabled.
One occupant was thrown from the boat. This man was able to swim back to the boat and then push the boat with the other two occupants to an island and wait for help, according to the Facebook post.
Rescue Boat 9 launched at a nearby ramp and picked up the occupants and took them back to the dock. The disabled boat was towed back to the ramp as well.
One occupant was evaluated and refused treatment, officials said.
