Police called to SCA over report of student with weapon

Suffolk Police are investigating a Friday incident involving a student believed to have a weapon on the campus of Suffolk Christian Academy.
Suffolk Emergency Communications received the call at 8:51 a.m., Friday, April 21, dispatching police to SCA, located in the 900 block of Carolina Rd.
Suffolk Police arrived at the school at 8:54 a.m. after being alerted by school administrators of a student suspected to be in possession of a weapon while on the school campus.
The school was placed on lockdown and searched by Suffolk Police, according to a department news release. The student was promptly located and searched by Suffolk Police and it was determined that the student did not have a weapon.
A sweep of the building was conducted and received the all-clear at 9:54 a.m.
There are no injuries reported.
The school was turned back over to the administration. The school was dismissed for the day.
The incident remains under investigation. Police said no further information is available at this time.
