Stallings named new city human resources director

Jessica Stallings assumes duties as the City of Suffolk’s director of human resources Friday, April 7.
Suffolk City Manager Al Moor appointed Stallings, who joined the city as the assistant director of human resources in 2001. She has been serving as interim director of the department since June 2022.
Stallings brings over 25 years of professional human resource experience to the role, according to a city news release. Before her time with Suffolk, she served in various roles in a human resources capacity in the private sector with organizations such as Stihl Inc. and Southland Technologies.
Since being with the City of Suffolk, Stallings has managed projects such as the 2022 step plan implementation, multiple human resource information system implementations, wellness initiatives, reward and recognition programs, citywide policies and various other employee programs.
Stallings holds a master’s degree in education/counseling from Norfolk State University and a bachelor of science in sociology from Old Dominion University. She holds advanced certifications in the field of Human Resources to include SPHR, IPMA‐SCP, SHRM‐SCP, and PMQ.
