Noah Weaver, a resident of Suffolk, was named to the Bob Jones University Bruins baseball team roster for the 2022-23 season. Weaver is a sophomore ministry and leadership major.
The Bruins are in their third season of intercollegiate competition as the team finished the 2022 campaign at 10-31 on the year.
“We’re excited to be back on the field,” Bruins head baseball Coach Brent Casteel said. “We know we have a challenging schedule but our players and coaching staff are looking forward to working hard for success this season.”
The Bruins will play a good mix of games with 17 home games on the schedule. Last season, the Bruins picked up six of their ten wins on the season at Conestee Park.
The team will play an array of NCAA D3, NAIA and NCCAA competitors over the course of the season. The Bruins will also compete in thirteen NCCAA South Region contests throughout the year as the team looks to contend for the region title and advance to their first NCCAA World Series.
“Our new recruit class has brought a lot of talent and a lot of heart,” Coach Casteel said. “They know how to work hard and they enjoy competing. Our veterans have worked very hard during the off-season to develop strength and endurance. As a coaching staff we were pleased with what we saw during fall workouts.”
Bob Jones University is located in Greenville, South Carolina.
