Two days before Christmas I decided to have a leisurely lunch at the Village Inn on College Drive. I took no notice when a  party of three entered and sat in a booth behind me. As they were leaving the woman called back a cheery holiday salute.

When I asked for my check, the smiling hostess said that it had already been paid by the anonymous party, with instructions to not tell me until their car left the lot.

I’m delighted to be reminded that there are nice people everywhere, and  I hope that others will look for ways to show love for their fellow men and women.
