A local Suffolk hospital welcomed the first new-born baby of the New Year Sunday.
Giabella Noelle Lewis arrived at 10:18 p.m. Jan. 1 at Sentara Obici Hospital to mother Kyla Watson, father Chris Lewis and mother Tori Gray.
“It was unexpected, but she’s honestly the most exciting thing that has happened to us,” Watson said. “She’s the most exciting little thing that has ever happened even only being two days old.”
Watson said the delivery process for her new daughter was very quick, but also very painful.
“It wasn’t as wonderful as I thought it would be, but ultimately it was worth it,” she said with a laugh.
Watson is pleased about the timing of her daughter’s birth.
“Lucky for her since she’s the first baby of the new year, she gets to experience every single holiday, every single event,” Watson said. “This was her due date, which I didn’t expect for her to come on her due date. So, she’s kind of perfectly scheduled for the year.
The hospital celebrated the momentous occasion by providing the family a goodie box that included a box, swaddles, diapers, and stuffed animal.
