David Merle Vickers of Suffolk died of a heart attack on Dec. 27, 2022.
He was born in July of 1947, the oldest child of Merle and Chloe Yates Vickers. He was raised in Montana and Washington, graduated from Walla Walla High School, then attended Utah State University followed by a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brazil. He graduated from Oregon State University with degrees in economics and international business.
Dave often proclaimed that the best decision he ever made was his choice of wife. He married Catherine Bateman Coombs on Aug. 22, 1969, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He had four children: Chad (Rachel) Vickers of Philadelphia, Penn.; Christopher (Carla) Vickers of Suffolk, Cara (Willard Kane) Vickers of Courtland, Craig Vickers of Salt Lake City, Utah; five grandsons: Sebastian and Liam Vickers-Kane of Courtland, Jaxon and Hawkin Vickers of Philadelphia; Caleb Vickers of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Anne Schille, deceased; three brothers, Rohn Vickers of Ohio, Lohn Vickers, deceased; Owen “Skip” Vickers of California.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, please contact the family for details. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
