The Grinch is usually looking for ways to derail Christmas. But this year, children can enjoy breakfast with him help to ensure local children in need have toys under the tree.
Characters4kidz holds a Breakfast with the Grinch event from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at Baron’s Pub located at 185 N. Main St.
Tickets are $12 each with proceeds going to the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office Toy Drive. Characters4kidz owner Christopher Hearn explained how he worked with the Sheriff’s Office and why he chose the Grinch for the event.
“I was contracted by Suffolk Parks and Rec to do the Easter Bunny this past Easter. So I thought it would be cool to do the Grinch for Christmas,” Hearn said.
He also volunteered to do a character for the Sheriff’s Office toy giveaway last year and was asked if he could volunteer again this year.
“That’s when my wife and I decided to purchase a Grinch costume,” Hearn said. “There are always Santa Claus events.”
Hearn said parents and their children can come to Baron’s Pub to enjoy breakfast with the Grinch and grab a photo to remember their day.
“We will give each child a fruit treat and sticker,” he said. “Pancakes, sausage links and juice or milk will be on the menu. Cost is $12 per breakfast.”
Proceeds from each ticket will go to the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office Toy Drive.
“Parents can make donations or donate a toy. The Sheriff Office will be at Suffolk Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. collecting donations and toys,” Hearn said. “A portion of my proceeds will be donated to the sheriff’s toy drive,”
Hearn also took a moment to share details on his annual event set for early next year.
“Characters4kidz has an annual event, ‘Dancing with the Characters,’ in February where we entertain kids, and give away toys,” he said. “We choose a charity to make a monetary donation from our event. We also donate by having characters make guest appearances. My wife and I have a passion to create lasting memories for kids.”
