Arthur L. (Art) Williamson, 81, passed away on Nov. 7, 2022, in Halifax County. He was born to Charlie and Shirley Wilkins Williamson on Dec. 6, 1940. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Irene Williamson. 

Art retired as sergeant of the Virginia State Police after serving 31 years. He also spent two years in the Army after graduating from Halifax County High School in 1960. Besides his wife, he leaves behind a brother, Odell Williamson of Halifax and a stepson, Leslie Welch of Colorado. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Williamson. A memorial service will be held on Nov. 29, at Parr Funeral Home in Suffolk. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
