The season’s ghosts and goblins get an early start to Halloween Sunday at the Downtown Business Association’s Trick or Treat event.
Don those costumes and bring the youngsters out from 4-6 p.m. as businesses along North and South Main Street, along with those in the 100 block of West Washington, the 100 and 200 blocks of East Washington and Commerce streets bring Halloween fun to downtown.
Deann Holt, business development manager with the city’s Department of Economic Development, said families can follow the multi-color stenciled peanuts lining the sidewalks to the participating businesses.
In addition to the children, families are also welcome to dress up their pets and allow them to join in the activities, Holt said.
“We will have treats for them located in front of the former SunTrust Bank building (123 N. Main Street),” she said.
Adding to the event, a Haunted House is planned inside the Party Time Entertainment for youngsters to go through at 126 W. Washington St. Along with this spooky fun, Holt said they will be serving free popcorn.
The event provides a safe way to trick or treat and offers downtown businesses a boost as families gather there.
“I, along with the Downtown Business Association, am trying to offer more activities in downtown and felt this was a good way to get businesses involved and give families an “extra” day for kids to show off their Halloween costumes,” Holt said.
