Suffolk Planning and Community Development is partnering with Keep Suffolk Beautiful to hold a cleanup in the Lakeside neighborhood near the planned site of the new downtown Suffolk outdoor event space.
It will take place between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday, Oct. 15.
Participants are asked to sign-in at the intersection of Wilson Street and Lee Street. All trash grabbers, safety vests, gloves and bags will be provided to those willing to chip in. A map will also be provided of the streets included in the cleanup.
Organizers note that they will also be collecting discarded tires. However, only tires and trash from the designated cleanup area will be accepted.
“It is important for us to work with the community we serve, improving one neighborhood at a time,” Property Maintenance Official Susan Dillard with Suffolk Community Development said. “We are excited to come together with the residents and look forward to getting tires and litter off of our street.”
Anyone with questions should contact the Planning & Community Development office at 757-514-4150 or Litter Control at 757-514-7604, or email ksb@auffolkva.us.
