Chesapeake man charged with Suffolk liquor store burglary

A Chesapeake man is charged in connection with a 2022 commercial burglary at the liquor store in Suffolk.
Suffolk Police arrested Richard Phillip Ford, 60, of Chesapeake, on charges involving the Sunday, Oct. 2 burglary at the Virginia ABC store, located at 1407 N. Main St.
Police said in a news release that emergency communications received an alarm notification signal from the store at about 5:48 p.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the scene, arriving at about 5:51 p.m., and observed Ford inside the store loading merchandise into a vehicle.
An inventory of the items removed from the store and the items damaged within the store are valued at about $3,950, according to the release.
Ford is charged with burglary; grand larceny; possession of burglarious tools; and wearing a mask in public.
This incident remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
