Repair work necessitates detour on Bunch Avenue, East Washington Street

Working on behalf of the Department of Public Utilities, a contractor will be performing Sanitary sewer repairs near the intersection of Bunch Avenue and East Washington Street are slated to begin Saturday, resulting in a detour for motorists.
The city’s Department of Public Works said a contractor is set to begin the work at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 and it’s expected to be complete by about 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18.
Eastbound East Washington Street traffic approaching the intersection of Pinner and East Washington streets will be detoured north on Pinner Street to East Pinner Street to Eastbound Portsmouth Boulevard, according to a city news release. Westbound East Washington Street traffic approaching the intersection of Suburban Drive and East Washington Street will be detoured north on Suburban Drive to Westbound Portsmouth Boulevard.
Should inclement weather prevent the work from occurring, the city’s Department of Public Utilities said the work will be rescheduled for the next weekend, Sept. 24 and 25, at the same times.
