The Rev. Mark Reon, 62, died Sept. 4, 2022. A native of Miami, Fla., he was predeceased by his father, Robert Lee Reon. Mark retired as Pastor of Christ First Church, Suffolk in 2021, attended Baylor University and Florida International University and received his masters degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was a former youth minister at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Mark planted the college student church at ODU (now called Cross Roads Church), serving from 1999 to 2005, and was involved in numerous overseas mission trips.

Mark is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julia F. Reon, M.D.; four daughters, Rachel Emily Reon and husband Aaron White, Jessee Angell Reon, Grace Renee Reon and Lindsey Jordan Reon; mother, Jo-Ann Jessee Reon; and two sisters, Alice N. Reon and Julie R. McKinney.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, North Suffolk. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Christ First Church, 116 Romans Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SBC of Virginia, Att.
