Woodrow Avenue house fire displaces one

A home on Woodrow Avenue sustained heavy fire, smoke and heat damage in a blaze early Monday.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the 100 block of Woodrow Avenue, located off County Street south of downtown, at 6:10 a.m. and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the home. A single occupant had evacuated prior to firefighters’ arrival and was unhurt.
The fire was under control at 6:25 a.m.
The fire is under investigation by the city Fire Marshal’s Office.
